Thanks to Ed for asking me to visit with you friends on this forum. I love to read and study the word and have been a pastor/teacher for almost three decades. I have a reformed background, but became independent years ago. Shifted to the preterist paradigm shortly before Y2K and have been studying the possibility of universal reconciliation as the ultimate futurism. Love reading widely, trying to stay in shape, movies, golf, many types of music including celtic and hawaiian. I have had very little success trying to help dispensationals see the truths of fulfilled eschatology, both slowly or forcefully most just get peeved at the teacher. I am sure the subtleties of universal reconciliation would push most from peeved to tar and feathers. Its kind of discouraging and makes me what to do something else with the last period of my career. Thanks for listening. Let's talk.

Don,
Great to hear from you. Yes, I know what you mean. I watched one of my dearest friends the other night, when I told her that I didn't believe in hell, go ballistic on me. She began making these generalized statements accusing me of believing things that I never talked about. In addition, whenever I would quote scripture, she would say, "would you stop doing that..." as if I was doing something unsavory sharing scripture with her.

Of course, she said "even the devil can quote scripture...not that I'm calling you a devil..." Sad.

I invited her to this site as well, hoping that seeing the love manifested by the folks here might help her to see the beauty of GRACE, which doesn't necessarily imply universal reconciliation, but nonetheless, most want to stay in their religion. That way, they can be better than others. In IG, we are all in the same boat.
