Greetings all,
I found this forum via a post by DaveO on a blog about the compatibility of UR and Egvangellicalism. I found Dave's post to be very similar to my findings and his name had a URL web link which led me here. I'm hoping to spend some time reading up on the view points here as my interest seems to be right on the same trail.

I recently have been wanting to read Karl Barth, but I'm a bit afraid I might not understand it as I'm not very scholarly. I have read some statements on barth that he believed Jesus was the elect (I agree) and that all mankind was elected in him (Christ).

Since my embracing UR I have begun to see things I NEVER saw before. It's hard because no one sees these things the same way and usually don't want to listen as they know my views are unorthodox. I have been active on other boards and find myself getting into heated discussions with reformed believers and can even find myself acting like a fool.

So I just wanted to say hello and I hope to learn alot here.

I've got a feeling this might be a future home for me as I am embarking on writing a screen play on my views which seem to depict the very things I've been seeing here; Namely Jesus is absolutely beautiful and perfect, without flaw and wonderfully loving.

With love,

Auggybendoggy

Ozark,
Thank you very much. I'm afraid that my findings will probably be old hat for many of you who have been outside the traditional box for years. I'm pretty green when it comes to the Idea that Jesus truly fullfills the scriptures. I used to think it meant he read every detail and went out and did it : )

I'm excited because this forum seems geard for those of us who are truly ready to discuss ideas that normally we are condemned for. I yearn inside to talk about God in real ways than just standard hat. I want to understand God more and more because the more I do the more I believe scripture is TERRIBLY misunderstood. I don't mean that in a condemning way, as I am one who still misunderstands.

As a young man I was told that the bible was EASY to understand but we just don't take it literally. Now I know I reject that view : )

My Journey began in sunday school as we ventured through Luke using Joel B Greens commentary. I absolutely loved it and it broke the box I was in. Soon my rejection of Arm. (libertarian free will) made me go into a crisis that it was all bunk. My Father in law then introduced me to Thomas Talbott and I never looked back since. My literal approach and dogmatic know it all attitude is dead. I want nothing to do with it as I find the humble approach to God's word to be FAR more rewarding.

So thanks for the welcome and forgive me if my questions or finding seem ol rehashes.

Sincerely,
Auggy

Welcome Auggy. One thing you'll find here is that there is no "official" position for this site; except fulfilled eschatology and fulfilled grace - and even those allow some differences, at least enough that there is no "orthodoxy" here. Since we're all heretics anyway, we let it go.

Personally, if I find myself at odds with something someone shares, I tend not to respond. That way I avoid the conflict. There are times when I chime in, perhaps to offer a suggestion, or correct a misconception (as a therapist, I see a lot of misconceptions on the internet).

Anyway, feel free to participate in whatever manner, or degree you wish. The more the merrier.

Howdy Auggy,

Yep, no "sacred cows" here. We don't expect you to agree with us either -- but Ed already did a fine job of filling you in on that stuff.

Nice to e-meet ya!
