Here is a link to a short presentation by Rob Bell titled, "Rhythm." It looks like it is an intro to a possible series?

If anyone can find the whole series, or how to get it, please let me know. I'm really interested in what he has to say.

Thanks,
Paige

It's called NOOMA (an intentional misspelling of the greek, pneuma, or spirit/breath).

The absolute best one, in my humble opinion is RAIN, his very first video. Here's the link:

click on "Rain Film" in the middle of the screen. Enjoy. There are brief clips of other videos in the series on the page before, found here:

You'll see the selections on a "track" along the bottom of the page. I really enjoyed Rhythm too. Great music, eh?

love ya,

Thanks Ed!

I think I saw the "Rain" film...If I'm remembering correctly, it showed him hiking in the rain with his son? That was very powerful.

I'm going to check out the rest of them. I like the way he connects with his audience.

Love ya right back :)

Paige, thanks for the original post...and Ed, luved the link to rain!

When i also read the text next to the "Rhythm" i was reminded of some reading/study time. Here is a small clip of the text :

What does it mean to have a relationship with God? What does it look like? For a lot of us it’s a hard thing to fully understand. If God is an infinite spirit with no shape or form, how can we possibly relate to that? And what about Jesus? He said he came to give everyone life in its fullest. He came to show us how to live. Here is my ramble...

My views on "God" have changed quite a bit over the years. I honestly grew up (thanks to my Irish-Catholic heritage) that God had form. Yup. He was (figuratively speaking) that Old Man with the white beard that brought food to the table, and a nice parking spot for a short walk to the Sunday Mass. Even in my early CharismaticCraziness i kept the "Form" idea going. Somehow it was easier for my (then) god-in-a-box-view to grasp the idea of a "Father" for a protector-god. Something with shape, size, mass, and arms/hands to hold me...etc (again - figuratively speaking).

That's all out the window 4 me now...these days i'm in the rain With God. Experiencing each drop together. I no longer feel something beside me, but rather Inside me. It is the difference between having an umbrella in the rain, and being part of the umbrella. Knowing my life will include times of getting wet-on-the-outside...but remaining dry-and-comfy on the underside of that umbrella, yet still part of the fabric of the umbrella.

The God i now imagine is nothing i grasp or hold onto. Nothing i even "lean-on" in the traditional/orthodox way i was taught. That concept was once scary and shocking. No umbrella to get me through my "Rain"? No crutch to lean on when life sends a sprain?

Enough before a see prose and mush coming from my kybd.

Rambling's good :)

There is a lot in the rambling that really makes me think and and really stretches me. Thank you, Thom!

If I remember correctly, I think that "Rhythm" is really about what you are saying Thom. It's sort of like, God is the symphony, and we are the music. He dwells in us and through us - at least that's how I remember it. I suppose it's possible I was listening through "fulfilled" ears.

That was my take on it also Ed, you summarized it well. Excellent post.

Paige, happy to hear my rambles end up perceived in the love they are shared rather than any attempt to rock someone's boat.

As one of our fellow posters siggy file stated years ago:
"We're all in this together"
. . . before i grabbed onto FG/UL i had no idea how big the "all" was.
