I SO love this song!! I can't explain it, maybe it is the energy in it, but I love to kick off the holidays with it!

The video maker person (:))personalizes the song and puts it into perspective.

Is war eternal? Or is there an ongoing efficacy per the "swords to plowshares" which guarantees a future without war? I guess we can't really know. Not for sure. I know that in my own heart, I pray for peace.

This is perhaps the most difficult thing about accepting fulfilled eschatology. Where can we see the "swords into plowshares" in reality? Certainly, as lovers of God, we can advocate for peace, but shouldn't we actually see peace if indeed we are in "the new heavens and earth"?

Not doubting, just bringing up a point that I hear all the time.

Ed,

I've been thinking about this. If love has been made reality and truth, then surely...

Someday at Christmas
by Stevie Wonder

Someday at Christmas men won't be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free

Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life's really worth
There'll be peace on earth

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas we'll see a Man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care

Someday at Christmas there'll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shinning moment my heart ran away
From our world today

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime

Ed, if Israel didn't know the day of her own visitation and that was to be that which brought peace but their religiosity preferred war, then I guess multi-faced religion is still dying a hard death. I think we have many, many centuries left before we get collectively wise enough to realise that such constrictions should be left far behind if man is to truly forge ahead together as the image of God.

Hi, a good read all : )

Davo, i'm with you on your thoughts.
And maybe it's just my a-bit-skewed outlook . . . ? . . . but i'm not even looking for outward peace this far into grabbing a hold of the fulfilled view. I see the "Peace" as between God and Man (which all can enjoy here-now), and not necessarily Man and Man. In that frame of mind i see no conflict with ongoing outward conflict, and i really don't envision some Star Trek sort of Peace-Between-Mankind-Earth-community happening for many, many centuries.

G'day Thom... yeah I think the more folk come into the realisation that between God and man there is no unresolved conflict, then the more the penny will drop that "why then are we pursuing conflict with other?" -- and then decide on a better course of action etc.
