FB is how my wife and I keep in touch with the kids in foreign lands, Texas, S Carolina and Louisiana. You can see the kids grow in still pictures.

ditto on keeping in touch with the kids. FB is a nice tool for that.
one of ours (our son) is in SC also :) stationed at the Charleston AFB.
and the other one (our daughter, & also in the USAF) just called us from Dominican Republic helping out with humanitarian aid.
It's "Doppelganger Week" at Facebook and I just wanted to share some observations that we (and/or I) have made in the past along with some new ones. Let's "meet" some members:

How come I cannot see my picture????
But LOL ROFL. Really like Davo's picture!
Btw, I'm in a bit of a constant in Facebook.
I use it almost exclusively to keep in contact with all my old friends. So I keep mythology and views out of it. Except for a few little things like love. :)
I was thinking of doing something else in maybe say myspace or something where I can be "my self" so to speak and post "rock" songs that might be PG rated or speak frankly about God's love for all.
Facebook has been a real blessing to me. Like my old friend from Guadeloupe who found me. And my old friends from Arkansas. I simply do not want to interfere with those blessings as they stand. Kind of like, "there is a place for everything and a time for everything" so to speak.
Just my own thoughts as they stand at this moment.
Barry
Maybe that website can block the image or something. I'll try again with a different site...

I did mine up a couple days ago over there, FB has been very enjoyable for me. I've met up with many of my old classmates and friends that time and distance had let gone bye.

Maybe you can set up an alternate facebook account under another mix of your name and a different email address or something? I have a myspace too and Facebook is much more active in my experience.

Well, I'm in a bit of a thing on FB. I made a decision awhile ago to only approve folks as friends if I either knew them personally, or they were a part of Talk-Grace. Our beloved Dave L. suggested me as a friend to around 150 people, only one of which, thus far, I know. I approved him (our old friend Joe Vincent).
I did deny one so far; someone that had been my friend - a "devoted 5-point Calvinist" who went on and on about the people who were going to go to hell. That was enough for me. I won't refriend her...
The other 100 that are sitting in my queue, I'm not sure what to do with. If I approve them, I'll feel guilty about the others that I didn't recently...
any suggestions?
I approve everyone but on my home page, I click to the right of their name "remove". Then it pops up "hide ____" and I click to hide them. So not everyone's comments feed into my home page.
That's just how I handle it, maybe someone else will have some ideas.

That's how I used to do it...it just seemed like it didn't solve the problem for me.
thanks for the suggestion though...I'm thinking about it. It may be the best way after all.

I DO have other suggestions! Forgive yourself ("When you know better you do better") and approve them OR, if approving them isn't really what you want to do anyway - give yourself the permission to say "no"!

just read above Dave's last post where i added my ya ya post.
Ed, I approve everybody : )
When i was active over at the 3d world of Kaneva i had about 1,000 friends and only a handful off them that i bumped digital elbows with on a daily basis...but when it was time for "Accrete" to throw a party (my 3d name over there and in the 3d outerworlds) BOY did i have a bang of a showing! Hundreds would show up in their avitars and digitaly dance the nite away with live streaming videos and all the 3d digital eye candy i could muster up in designing a world to enjoy for all. . .
AND, some of those 'will i ever meet this person' 'friends' shared some of the most profound thoughts.
So yea, i welcome all.

I approve most of my family, some friends. Have gotten rid of some friends on the bases that we don't converse. Guess it was a curiosity thing to see who is still breathing. Have had to hide some of them because of this Aquarium and Farmville addiction, including my son in New Orleans. My main use is to keep in touch with my kids. I love picking on them...Wait, did I just say that?

Never feel guilty if you decide not to befriend anyone on there... I've got such a wide mix of friends on Facebook from mainstreamers, prets, CU's, atheists, etc... while I try to match up friends with like interests, it's also hard to do sometimes as I forget who believes what. LOL
All this to say, my apologies, but if you don't want to befriend whomever, by all means, don't sweat it. :-)
Peace!

Actually Dave, it's all good. I friended everyone that's asked. I hope to use it in the future to "get the word out." I've some long-range plans that this might fit into...
Re: 2 accounts. I actually thought of that. Set one up that's purely for getting my views out, and then leave my personal one for family and close friends. The problem is, I have some friends (like from work) who I wouldn't necessarily put on my VIEWS page, but aren't close enough friends to be on the personal one (that I would then use it for).

Cool... the last thing I ever wanna do is ruin someone's FaceBook experience... while we have it, it's a great tool for ministering and for keeping in touch with friends / family.
By the way, I'll suggest Luther G. Williams (http://www.facebook.com/lutherg.williams) to any who wish to add him, he's a Pret / UR believer as well. :-)
Dave,
Maybe this thread answered your question about FB from the other thread?

I'm sensing that our message is being heralded far and wide on FB. TG will continue to be our place of refuge, but our "shouting from the housetops" is happening at FB. We have become exponentially more productive.
I love you all

what do you folks put your privacy settings at?
Everyone (And what does that mean exactly? Like it does not go to every one's FB page in the whole world automatically but they could see it if they hunted it down? I'm confused. But it doesn't take much LOL)
Friends of friends
friends
Each has it's attributes and qualities.
Planing to invite some to FB people to come here, as some of the character and intimacy and openness is somewhat unique here.
There is a very deep well of information and insights to draw from here as well.
Not that anyone is saying anything different, just talking about it.

I set almost everything on EVERYONE. Some info in the profile I set to private (don't want just anyone getting my home phone...).
I see TG and FB like the old saying that the preacher used to say - "We come to church to worship, but go into the world to serve." TG is where I come to fellowship on a deeper level, to get refreshed. FB is where I go to share the message - i.e., serve.
