View Full Version : Sherlock Holmes
All that I have to say is "AWESOME"! They did such a great job with the characters and feel! It's respectful of the original while making the man more relatable (imo).
If you like a mystery with suspense and sprinkles of laughter, totally go see this!
That's all I can say right now without "spoilers"!

Hope it was better than Avatar. The visuals in 3D were stunning, but the movie was such a cliché, I left a bit disappointed. You would think with a total cost of almost half a billion, they would have spent a little on the writing.
Doug,
I haven't seen Avatar 'yet', so I couldn't compare. I think that the Holmes story was really really good - well written.

I really liked Avatar, but have heard a few people describe the plot as "Dances With Wolves" on another planet. You know what? I think they are right...LOL
I liked Sherlock Holmes too. Great story, and good set up for a sequel.

I thought the same thing about Cameron's "Titanic." Folks were so wowed by the special effects that they didn't notice how unoriginal the storyline was. In fact, there are very similar themes in Avatar-- someone falls in love with someone they are not supposed to, evil, greedy rich guys, etc. I must admit Cameron gets away with it. With Avatar, I knew exactly what was going to happen well before it did, but still had fun watching the cool 3D stuff.

Shirlock looks like a winner! cari and i will see it sometime.
For Avitar? I've heard the plot was a bit dull, but i already told myself the reason for seeing it was the special effects as the program they used to create the worlds is the one i use in my 2d art : )

Looking forward to see Avatar and Sherlock Homes. Homes I might see in the cinema. I'll wait for second hand blue ray for the rest and eat pop corn down stairs with my wife and girls.
Titanic and King Kong could use alternative endings DVD option :)

I enjoyed Avatar. Kind of reminded me of 'Fern Gully' on steroids. Nothing new in the story line. White man comes and steals land from Indians. But this time, even in their archaic weaponry, Indians win and white man goes home to build casino's. lol!
Sherlock Holmes was fantastic. Big Robert Downy Jr. fan here. The next Ironman looks awesome as well.

I have two words for you:
Tropic Thunder.
LOL.
One of the best scenes in the film:
Ben Stiller says something about "you people."
Downey: "what do you mean by 'you people.'"
Black Actor standing in the background: "what do YOU mean by 'you people.'"
HILARIOUS.
