Van Gogh's "Starry night" (http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/gogh/starry-night/gogh.starry-night.jpg) has been one of my favs for a long while. Midnight blue is my favorite color, and I love the way he contrasts the colors. The swirls in the painting animates the scene in my mind -though without any quality of realism.
I was introduced to Thomas Kinkade's (http://www.thomaskinkade.com/magi/servlet/com.asucon.ebiz.biography.web.tk.BiographyServlet) work in '02 - '03; I can't remember precisely. The way that his art (http://www.thomaskinkade.com/magi/servlet/com.asucon.ebiz.catalog.web.tk.CatalogServlet) looks as if there were a light shining behind the painting - amazing. Absolutely beautiful.
