Van Gogh's "Starry night" (http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/gogh/starry-night/gogh.starry-night.jpg) has been one of my favs for a long while. Midnight blue is my favorite color, and I love the way he contrasts the colors. The swirls in the painting animates the scene in my mind -though without any quality of realism.

I was introduced to Thomas Kinkade's (http://www.thomaskinkade.com/magi/servlet/com.asucon.ebiz.biography.web.tk.BiographyServlet) work in '02 - '03; I can't remember precisely. The way that his art (http://www.thomaskinkade.com/magi/servlet/com.asucon.ebiz.catalog.web.tk.CatalogServlet) looks as if there were a light shining behind the painting - amazing. Absolutely beautiful.

What are some of your favs?

Amie,

I feel the same way about Thomas Kinkade.

Also, this is my favorite Van Gogh:

Ever since I saw it, it just seemed like I wanted to someday get a chance to go there. My husband's grandfather (Opa) is very artistic and one of the last pieces he did was a replica of that piece. It turned out exquisite. His eyesight is failing him now, so he had to give up painting.

Wow Paige,

That again has that wonderful illuminating quality. It is almost as if Kinkade is a modern Van Gogh.
