Very touching. As I was watching this and seeing the quotes from some of the famous, I was thinking about all the fathers out there today who love their daughters and completely reject the idea that they are inferior. We are still learning as humans, and have come a very long way, IMO.

P.S. I have always loved that piece of music. I don't know the name of it, or who does it, but every time I hear it, I'm powerfully moved.

Thanks for sharing, Amie.:clap2:
Great piece. It stirs alot of thoughts and emotions.
It really cannot be denied that Christianity has devalued and put women second, at least from everything that I have seen. Christianity and much of the Bible is male oriented. My thought is that this does not stem from a flaw in Christianity, but from societal flaws. It seems that Christianity, as with all religions, IMO, has just simply reflected the thoughts and attitudes of the various societies over the years.
My hope is that we all continue to grow and learn and expand our ideas and practices.
One thing that I have committed myself to change as I have studied more, is to try very hard not to refer to God in male terms. I try not to use terms such as "father" or even male pronouns such as "him" or "his". When used consistantly over time, these do seem to solidify an image in your mind of a superior male and I do not believe God to be male or female.
PS. Paige: Also LOVE the song. I first heard it in a Kevin Bacon movie I am unsure of the movie title or the artist of the song, but I will check into it.

Christy,
The movie was, "She's Having a Baby." Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern starred together in it. I still don't know the song title, but that movie is also where I heard it the first time.

"This Women's Work" by Kate Bush
The soundtrack also has "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison, I may have to order it!:9_cool:
