Hi all. I have been told by others that they view this "judean man" as any judean/jew today, mainly by those who are futurists or dispensationalists.
One of the questions I have is the word used for men, Hebrew #0582 as lexicons show many different Hebrew words used for "Man/Men" in the OT. Anyone like to discuss this interesting passage? Thanks.

Zechariah 8:23 Thus said YAHWEH of Hosts: In those days take strong hold do ten men/0582 'enowsh of all languages/tongues of the nations, Yea, they have taken hold on the skirt/wing/kanaph of a Man/'iysh, a Y@huwdiy, saying: We go with you, for we heard 'Elohiym with You!

[I]'enowsh (Strong's 0582) occurs 564 times in 530 verses:

Matthew 14:36 and were calling on Him that they might only touch the fringe/wing/kraspedou <2899> of His garment/imatiou <2440>, and as many as did touch were saved/dieswqhsan <1295> .

The ten men are the ten lost tribes and the uniting all into one Israel. Compare to Isaiah 2 and Micah 4.

The ten men are the ten lost tribes and the uniting all into one Israel. Compare to Isaiah 2 and Micah 4.Do you know the significance of the Hebrew word "'enowsh" that is used for the 10 men?

Zechariah 8:23 Thus said YAHWEH of Hosts: In those days take strong hold do ten Men/0582 'enowsh of all languages/tongues of the nations, Yea, they have taken hold on the skirt/wing/kanaph of a Man/0376 'iysh, a Y@huwdiy, saying: We go with you, for we heard 'Elohiym with You!

'enowsh (Strong's 0582) occurs 564 times in 530 verses: AV (http://www.talk-grace.com/help/av.html) - man (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=man*+0582) 520, certain (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=certain*+0582) 10, husbands (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=husbands*+0582) 3, some (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=some*+0582) 3, merchantmen (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=merchantmen*+0582) 2,

582 'enowsh en-oshe' from 605 (http://www.eliyah.com/cgi-bin/strongs.cgi?file=hebrewlexicon&isindex=605); properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more dignified 120); hence, a man in general (singly or collectively):--another, X (blood-)thirsty, certain, chap(-man); divers, fellow, X in the flower of their age, husband, (certain, mortal) man, people, person, servant, some ( X of them), + stranger, those, + their trade. It is often unexpressed in the English versions, especially when used in apposition with another word .

583 'Enowsh en-ohsh' the same as 582 (http://www.eliyah.com/cgi-bin/strongs.cgi?file=hebrewlexicon&isindex=582); Enosh, a son of Seth; --Enos.
606 'enash en-awsh' (Aramaic) or renash (Aramaic) {en-ash'}; corresponding to 582; a man:--man, + whosoever.

[I]'iysh (Strong's 0376) occurs 1639 times in 1432 verses: AV (http://www.talk-grace.com/help/av.html) - man (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=man*+0376) 1002, men (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=men*+0376) 210, one (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=one*+0376) 188, husband (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=husband*+0376) 69, any (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=any*+0376) 27, misc (http://www.talk-grace.com/cgi-bin/words.pl?show_strongs=yes&word=misc*+0376) 143; 1639

376 'iysh eesh contracted for 582 (http://www.eliyah.com/cgi-bin/strongs.cgi?file=hebrewlexicon&isindex=582) (or perhaps rather from an unused root meaning to be extant); a man as an individual or a male person; often used as an adjunct to a more definite term (and in such cases frequently not expressed in translation):--also, another, any (man), a certain, + champion, consent, each, every (one), fellow, (foot-, husband-)man, (good-, great, mighty) man, he, high (degree), him (that is), husband, man(-kind), + none, one, people, person, + steward, what (man) soever, whoso(-ever), worthy. Compare 802 (http://www.eliyah.com/cgi-bin/strongs.cgi?file=hebrewlexicon&isindex=802).

InChrist,

"Husband" and "wife" are often used in covenant terminology imo - context of course, determines that.

The word translated "woman" in the famously used 'women be silent' text, is specifically a betrothed woman or wife. It was for the people to remain silent themselves, and submit to the Holy Spirit/the Word.

I only shared that, as an example of the covenantal function of "wife". Interestingly enough, biological consummation is very similar to cutting a blood covenant. Also interesting imo, is that Israel was cut in two during the transition period, as the presence of the Lord entered.

From the time of the patriarchal Adam, "husband" had been the work of human beings. They were to maintain their own lives through hard labor. To call the 10 tribes "enowsh" would be the same as to include them as the aforementioned, in continuation. Jesus, according to Paul, would be the "last Adam".

I acknowledge that some Jews in the day of Jesus had hardened hearts, but I think it for a higher purpose. I also acknowledge that many Jews in that day also died proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and in-so-doing, bringing life to the world.
