Are there any greek experts here that can help interpret the 2 different greek words used for "jerusalem" in the NT? It may not be anything but it kind of got my curiosity up. Thoughts?
Hierosoluma (Strong's 2414) occurs 59 times in 59 verses:
iero-soluma <2414>,
Matthew 5:35 nor by the earth, because it is His footstool for the feet of Him, nor by Jerusalem/ierosoluma <2414>, because it is a city of a great king,
Hierousalem (Strong's 2419) occurs 83 times in 80 verses:
ierousalhm <2419>,
ierou-salhm
Matthew 24:1 And having gone forth, Jesus departed from the temple/ierou <2411>, and his disciples came near to show him the buildings of the temple,
Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedek, king of Salem/salhm <4532>, priest of God Most High, who did meet Abraham turning back from the smiting of the kings, and did bless him,
Hi InChristAlways... there is no difference between the two but that 2419 being the more direct transliteration of the Hebrew name, while 2414 reflects one of "the Greek" forms or variants of 2419.

The NT/NC primarily involves a new "Priesthood" and I found it interesting that the greek word for "Jericho" also has the prefix for "priest" just as the greek word for "jerusalem/priest-salem".
If you remember back in Joshua, it was the Priests that carried and blew the Trumpets around Jericho. The messengers in Revelation would in essence be a type of Priest/High Priests that are blowing the Trumpets I think. Just random thoughts for now.
Joshua 6:3 and ye have compassed the city--all the men of battle--going round the city once; thus thou dost six days; 4 and seven priests/03548 kohen do bear seven trumpets/07782 showphar of the jubilee/03104 yowbel before the ark, and on the seventh day ye compass/05437 cabab the city seven times/06471 pa`am, and the priests/03548 kohen blow with the trumpets/07782 showphar,
Luke 10:31 `And by a coincidence a certain priest/iereuV <2409> was going down in that way, and having seen him, he passed over on the opposite side;
Hebrews 11:30 by faith the walls of Jericho/iericw <2410> did fall, having been surrounded/kuklwqenta <2944> for seven days;
Priest/hiereus (Strong's 2409) occurs 32 times in 30 verses:
High Preist/archiereus (Strong's 749) occurs 123 times in 120 verses:
