This is totally fuh-reaky!! Kevin B posted a link to the Gospel of Thomas and I had just been talking to Paige about that on the phone!

Well, might as well spit it out:

Thomas
8 And he said, The person is like a wise fisherman who cast his net into the sea and drew it up from the sea full of little fish. Among them the wise fisherman discovered a fine large fish. He threw all the little fish back into the sea, and easily chose the large fish. Anyone here with two good ears had better listen!

The above reminds me of:

Matthew 13
47 Again, the kingdom of Heaven is compared to a drag net thrown into the sea, and gathering together of every kind;
48 which, when it was filled, drawing it up on the shore, and sitting down, they gathered the good into containers, and they threw out the rotten.

The difference is that one fisherman is throwing back the "bad" fish, while the other threw back the "little" fish.

Might it be that the OC had captured a "little fish" as in a small portion of the world as a whole, and the NC had captured a "big fish" as in the world as a whole?

If that is true, is there a connection between "little" and "bad"? Matthew 13 continues:

49 So it will be in the completion of the age: the angels will go out and will separate the evil from the midst of the righteous,
50 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth.
51 Jesus said to them, Have you understood all these things? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.

What do y'all think?

Offhand, I think you might be onto something :cool:

I looked at some of the link, but I need to go back and read it through. Some of the comments that had been posted were interesting also.
